Happy Thursday friends. I hope everyone is well. I spent last night with my friend down in Ft. Lauderdale. I always enjoy spending time with her. We laugh and eat and usually have one drink. neither one of us is a big drinker.

One of the best parts is she always gives me a wonderful facial. I always feel bad because it get all of the benefits. Of course that is her line of work. I just enjoy it.

I am heading home today. Have a great day!

Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is off to a great start. All is well here. The puppies are growing and doing well. All the dogs seem to be handling the addition of the puppies except for Lily. She is almost 16 and almost blind so they scare her when they jump at her. I just put here where they can't get to her. They are keeping me busy.

Butterflies and Flowers Garland

Butterflies and Flower Garland

I have this shelf in my family room and I like to make different things for various holidays. I added a string across the bottom to hang items. I will be getting ready for some Memorial Day items, but in the meantime, I made some butterflies and flowers to go on it.

I haven't finished the top yet, but the garland is done.

I made three butterflies and two flowers. I had this fun fabric that I used for two of he butterflies. it almost looked liked a quilt fabric, but wasn't. I got it at Hobby Lobby.

The middle butterfly was made from an old quilt. I got this quilt a number of years ago and it was not in good condition. In fact, it had many holes and was torn but for $2, I knew I could cut it up. I love quilts and have quite a few. I would never cut a good one up but since it was already in bad shape, no problem.

I used some vintage clothes pins for the centers. If you don't have any, you could just keep them plain. If you are interested in the pattern, email me and I will send it to you. eclecticredbaarn@gmail.com

I played around with it for awhile to get the size I wanted. I actually made the quilted one bigger than the other two. I used a blanket stitch around the edges, but you could stitch it if you want.

If you decide to use a clothes pin, make sure you have ones that have a large opening. The newer ones do not have a big enough opening to get the fabric into. You can see the difference in the ones below. The one on the left is my vintage one and the other one is newer.

For the flowers, I just made a pattern that had 5 loops around. I just used some scrap fabric to make these. I did use pinking sheers to cut them out and then used the blanket stitch.

For the centers, I used some buttons from my vintage box.

So there you have me late spring garland of flowers and butterflies.

Family Features on You Are the Star

Happy Monday! I hope all the mothers had a wonderful day yesterday. I had a lovely day. Hubby and his brother made dinner for me and my sister-in-law. it was so nice not to cook!

I did make a dessert for us, but they prepared, cooked and cleaned up. We played and cards and just enjoyed the day.

I hope you enjoy your week ahead.
