Doily Dresser Scarf

I realize that I am posting another doily project but as I said before, I love doilies. This particular project was done last fall and you saw some of it on the side table in my spare bedroom. I wanted to show you how I made it.

I have seen this done with doilies stitched together by themselves, but I wanted to put a based with mine. So I started with a piece of a lace curtain. I cut it the size of the top of my nightstand.

Here is the backside of the topper. Once I had the base cut, I began to place doilies on the lace.

I didn't fill in all areas. I did add various pieces of lace on top of the doilies. Once I liked the layout, I began to stitch the pieces down. I just stitched them on.

Although I liked the look, I wanted more, so I added lace pieces down the sides of the top.

I pinned all the pieces of lace to the top and then stitched them on my sewing machine. Still not enough, I add a piece of lace over these to make it look more finished.

I love how it turned out and it looks great on the night stand.

This project was a great way to use up some of those doilies I collect and all of the lace pieces I have in my stash.

How to Frame and Preserve a Family Treasure

One of the items that I love to collect the most is vintage linens. Everything from dresser scarfs, tablecloths, to crocheted doilies. I think these are so special to me since my grandmother taught me to do this kind of needle work and I appreciate all the time and effort it takes to create.
I especially love doilies. I have made so many over the years, but don't have many to show for it since I have given them as gifts to others. That is probably why I keep bringing them home when I find them.

A Floppy Valentine

Some of you might remember that by the end of the 1980s, the 5¼-inch disks had been superseded by the 3½-inch disks for computers. By the mid-1990s, the 5¼-inch drives had virtually disappeared, as the 3½-inch disk became the predominant floppy disk. The advantages of the 3½-inch disk were its smaller size and its plastic case, which provided better protection from dirt and other environmental risks.

Out Junkin!

On Saturday, my husband and I went to two flea markets and some garage sales. It was a beautiful day, although a little cool for Florida. I love to go to a housing plan, in this case a trailer park, where most of the people participate. We just parked the car and walked and walked. My husband had to go to the car once to drop off our finds so we could continue shopping. That's a good thing right? Here are a few of the items I purchased.

You ask, is that a bed pan?
