Fabulous Features

Before we get to this week's link party, I'd like to share our featured posts that were shared with us this past week. It is so hard to choose only five!

These wildflower bookmarks are adorable. Sarita from An Off Grid Life and her children made these by foraging for wildflowers in their area. How fun?! I think my son and I will be doing this over the summer. She used a laminating machine, but if you don't have access to one, they have laminating sheets available at your local craft stores and usually at Wal-Mart.

Next I chose these gorgeous floral cones from MaryJo at Master "Pieces" of My Life. In her post she shares with us cones for displaying flowers from three different materials. The one below is my favorite. It is made from burlap with a hexagon shapes and a bee design. She placed fresh flowers in this cone. It's beautiful and the perfect addition to any Mother's Day gift!

I love adding seasonal vignettes throughout my home. If you're new to creating your own, or if you are thinking about trying your hand at one, Carol from Blue Sky at Home has created a tutorial for you to follow. She shares a few tips about what you should have for the base of a vignette and how to create them without spending any money. I just love this patriotic vignette!

It's nearly summer, and three quarters of my family have summer birthdays. Which means themed birthday parties. Pryiam from Simple Joys threw a Mermaid themed party for her daughter. She created themed foods, games, and decorations. Ariel herself would be impressed. I love how her party turned out, so I'm sure any little girl would LOVE this party, dinglehoppers and all!

Last, but certainly not least, we have these blackberry and lime margaritas. How good do these look?! Libby from A Life Unfolding shared a recipe for creating these mouth watering margaritas, garnished with blackberries, limes, and lime popsicles. Be sure to head over to her site and pin this post for whipping up a few over the summer. I see myself pool side, sunglasses, hat, and refreshing margarita in hand!

Happy Thursday! Mother's Day is coming this weekend and I wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all of you a little early. I am heading up to Pittsburgh to see my Mom. I have not seen her since last fall and I can't wait to see her. As I mentioned before, she had her 96th birthday last week. I can celebrate her birthday and Mother's Day together. 

I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day. I know many are not able to be with their loved ones, but you will be together in your hearts.

Yippie, I managed to get the party on time today! It's the little things that make me smile. I hope you are smiling too and having a great week. I am getting excited about this week because I am heading to Pittsburgh on Thursday to see my Mom. If you follow me, you know she had her 96th birthday last week. My sister was there for her birthday. Instead of us all being there for that, we decided to spread out the visits. I will be there for Mother's Day. She is so excited. I wish I could spend more time with her.

Welcome to You're The Star - Garden Feature Week

Happy Monday and welcome to May. Can you believe that it is May already? Time is certainly flying by. We were very cool, below temps, at the beginning of April  and now we are above temps for the beginning of May - in the low 90s. Weather is just crazy.

However, we have been able to enjoy the pool. We had the in-laws over the last few days and they liked being able to hang around the pool. If it is going to be hot, then you need a pool. 

How is your weather, hotter than normal or cooler than normal? 

I hope you have a great week ahead.

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade Party

Welcome to the party. Here we are in May. Can you believe it? We are having higher than normal temps - in the 90s. Too hot for this time of year. Yet, in the north cooler temps are back. Hubby came home form Vermont where they actually had snow showers one day. He was glad to get back home where it was warm. 

I want to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day, whether you are the mother of two legged children or four legged children.
