HEALTHY LUNCH BOX IDEAS
A Virtuous Woman
These are foods my own children love! I believe in exposing children to a wide variety of tastes and textures. Lunch time can be difficult. It’s easy to get in a rut. I homeschool my children, and I have found that if I “pack” their lunches the night before or first thing in the morning that I save time during our school day.
Vintage Doily Bohemian Dream Catcher
My Pinterventures
Lucky for us, there was a vintage fair open while she was here and we had the chance to attend. We were in vintage and handmade heaven! There were so many beautiful goodies, but it was the bohemian style dream catchers that caught our eyes. We loved the dream catchers so much that it inspired us to create our own vintage doily bohemian dream catchers with a few of the items we found at the fair.
How To Make Mint Extract
The Painted Hinge
I don’t know about you, but I always forget to restock my pantry with ingredients like mint extract when I run out. Then the holidays roll around and I’m baking away, and of course the recipe calls for mint extract, which of course I’m out of. So I make a mad dash to the store at the last minute to find they are all out of the real mint extract and all they have left is the artificial stuff. Yuck!
Fun ways to play in the dark!
Bethefunmom
Getting to stay up late enjoying the warm nights might be the best part of Summer vacation for kids. But, actually getting to play once it gets dark?! Now, that’s the stuff that builds memories! If your kids have been begging to stay up late one night, try surprising them with a night of play!! It’ll be downright magical for them!
PUMPKIN DUMP CAKE RECIPE
All She Cooks
Just in time for Thanksgiving, I thought I’d serve up a tasty alternative to pumpkin pie. Now, let me just preface this by saying- I will not be forgoing pumpkin pie this holiday season. In fact, I had a pumpkin shake yesterday from Culver’s and my daughter was laughing at me because of my drawn out ‘oh this is so good’. But it was, and it truly tasted like pumpkin pie- which I absolutely love.
Mini Calzones with Garden Fresh Tomato Sauce
Three kids and a fish
The back packs are filled with homework, the bell rings, students are making a mad dash for their bus and the school day is done! Thirty minutes later my kids get off the bus and make their way back home! They are tired and hungry and have only a little bit of time before we head out to after school activities!
Twinge of Change
Life of A Georgia Artist
On the way home today I noticed the tiniest bit of change. I noticed the air was different. Leaves were falling, blowing over the roads, and it was a tiny tiny bit cooler. In Georgia fall does not appear her head till the end of October or even November, but today there was a twinge of change.
50 Free and Cheap Fun Things to Do with a Toddler
Thinking Outside The Sandbox
Toddlers are so much fun, but they have short attention spans and buying new toys gets expensive! There are many free and fun things to do with a toddler that I have discovered lately. I have also included a few free and cheap fun things to do with a toddler.
Mango Angel Food Cake with Whisky Cream
Spaceships and Laser Beams
We love to eat fresh, seasonal produce from our local farmer’s market, but I’d be ashamed to tell you how many times I have purchased something fresh and not been able to use it up before it wilts and dies in my fridge. Please tell me I’m not the only one to do that! I’ve found that the DOLE Canned Fruit in my pantry has been a life saver many times over. Whether fixing a treat for the family or making a quick dessert for company, having a stash of stable ingredients on hand makes summer entertaining a lot more convenient
Romantic Essential Oils
My Dairy Free Gluten Free
CARAMEL APPLE PIE COOKIES
Cincy Shopper
Fall will be here before we know it and these Caramel Apple Pie Cookies will make for a comforting dessert. They resemble a mini apple pie and are super delish. Fun and easy too since they use simple store bought ingredients. Whip them up in just a few minutes time.

Embracing the Victorian Era With Antiques in Your Home - Guest post
Today I have the pleasure of presenting a guest post by Tyler Schmidt entitled:
Embracing the Victorian Era With Antiques
in Your Home
It was a time of
change. It was a time to set aside the rationalism of the past and embrace the
artistic and literary ways of thinking as well as intellect. Its literature and
art is dynamic, painting the era in a way only Jane Austen and William Blake
could do. The Victorian era lives on through these works of art, and brought to
life in the living and dining rooms of those who embrace it.
Here are some
tips for decorating every room in your home with antiques that represent so
much more than a fraction of time in history:
No detail is too small.
Victorian era antiques are often intricate in every way possible. Find ways to
integrate those details into the décor of the room, by using unique plates or
other pieces from the era to display amidst a mixture of coordinating
furniture.
Via Old House Online
Soak it up.
A
claw foot tub is a must for any Victorian-themed home. Not only does it
encapsulate the era, but it’s darn cozy to think of soaking in a brilliant
one-of-a-kind tub by the fire with a good book by candlelight.
Via My Domaine
Something
borrowed, something new.
If you
appreciate modern touches, it is okay to mix the old with the new. Proceed with
caution, as it needs to be the right combination of pieces to work together,
but know it is perfectly acceptable to showcase a beautiful piece of Victorian
furniture amid more modern touches.
Via Remodelista
Keep it simple.
What may have seemed like a good idea at the
time may not still be right for the spaces in your home. Between patterned
wallpaper and chandeliers and handcrafted details in the furniture, it all can
be a little much. Remember it’s okay to find one or two features to highlight
in a room, like an especially unique bed frame or magnificent fireplace, and
have them really stand out.
Let there be
light.
There is much to appreciate in Victorian-era pieces and within Victorian
homes themselves. One feature that seems to appear a lot is the chandelier, so
don’t forget to find a way to incorporate one into a prominent space. Make it
the focal point of the room by keeping crisp, white walls that keep the
attention on the furniture or lighting choices.
