Happy Monday and welcome to the first day of Fall. Can you believe it? We had almost fall weather here this in Florida even though it was around 87 degrees. Sunday morning was only 70 degrees. Now I know that this is probably still hot for most of you for fall, but after the hot temps we had, this is like fall to us. I hope your coming week is wonderful and that you enjoy your first week of fall.

My first feature for the week is from The Boondocks Blog and it's a perfect project to spruce up old baskets or ones you have found at the thrift stores. Check out how to add a fun look baskets with paint and then go find some baskets to makeover.
I am sure my Samoa cookie lovers will be overjoyed if I were to make these Samoas Rice Krispies for them. Mommy Evolution's recipe for them couldn't be easier.

I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. We were able to spend it with my son and grand kids. We did some labor - projects around the house and some relaxing as well. We are still following hurricane Dorian. I hope it continues to move off the coast but that still means lots of water surge. Let's just hope it doesn't make any turns toward land. Please be safe and you are in my prayers.

My grand daughter winning first place!
We were at the Champlain Valley Fair Grounds in Vermont. She won this one and 4 seconds and a third place. Her horse is called Paige. I was so proud of her since this is her first year of showing.
As we begin this week, many are bracing for hurricane Dorian. I am still in Vermont but my daughter is in Florida taking care of our dogs. I wish I could be there because it is no fun when a hurricane hits. There is always so much to do to prepare for the storm and she had to deal with our house and hers. I am wishing for prayers if you can, not only for us but for all of those dealing with this storm.

Here it is the last Wednesday in August. Kids, are back in school, fall posts are everywhere and even some Halloween ones. For some, fall is in the air, but definitely not for those of us in the south. It's still summer and we won't be feeling fall until about mid October.
That's OK, I still enjoy all of your fall posts and maybe one of these days, I will even find my fall decorations. Since we have moved, I'm not sure where they are. In the meantime, I am in Vermont and enjoying some cooler weather here. I'm lovin it.

Welcome to another week at Happiness Is Homemade. Wow, it is the middle of August. Kids are back to school, fall ideas are appearing and soon we will be sharing Halloween posts (I did see a couple already). I even saw some Christmas things at JoAnn fabrics the other day. Yikes, I am not ready for all of that. What about you?
School started here on Monday. Did your kids start school yet? I don't have kids in school these days, but I can't imagine them going back so early. My grand kids in Vermont, don't start until the 27th. School starting usually means that summer is coming to an end, but I am being positive that we still have lots of summer yet to go. How about you?

Happy Monday! Welcome to another new week in August. As with the other months, this month is flying by too fast. I know that many schools started today. Remember when we started school after Labor Day. We had almost three months for summer vacation. Now students are lucky if they get 2 months. It's a new school year and I hope your kiddos have a good one.
