Loaded Lime Tree

Loaded Lime Tree

When we moved into this new house last May, one of the first things we did outside was to plant some fruit trees. One of them was a Lime Tree. It had 6 limes on it when we bought it and a few more came. I still have 2 limes on it, but now it is loaded with blooms for the upcoming season.

Now this tree is not big but it is loaded with blooms.  We have used all of the limes except for the 2 that are still on the tree. Actually, the yellow one came off today so now I only have one left.

I read online that yellow limes (if left on the tree to ripen) can be sweeter or very sour. I cut mine and it was definitely sour and very juicy. Not sure how I will use it yet, but I might try it in my water and see how that goes.

The flowers are beginning to open up and they smell lovely. I know that not all of the buds will produce a lime, which the tree could not support anyway.

They tell you to pull off limes if you have too many in one cluster, but I like to let mother nature manage it. We have had to prop up branches that got too heavy with fruit - that I am willing to do.

The lemon tree doesn't have as many as the lime tree which I am a little sad about but they are young trees and will continue to produce.

I will let you know how the lime tree progresses. I may have a lime stand out front - selling them. lol!

  2. I love this!! How fun to have fruit trees right on your property! It's too cold here for most fruit trees. We can do berries though. 🙂

  3. Wouldn't you love to grab a fresh, juicy peach or a handful of strawberries from your own backyard? There are many fruits you can grow in your home garden, even if you have limited space.
