Child's Jute Seat Rocker
Although it was in relatively good condition to look at, the dog had chewed on the rungs especially in the back.
I had to sand them down and in some cases fill in the bad spots. The seat was caked in dirt. I had a hard time getting the dirt out from between the jute. I actually took a hose to it. I think it might have been sitting outside from some time. Claire is checking out the new item.
The seat was in good condition. One jute piece was loose, but I nailed it back in place.
After I cleaned it and let it dry, I taped the seat so I could paint the rest of it.
I used CeCe Caldwell's vintage white chalk paint. After it was dry, I distressed it some.
I read online that the jute should be lacquard so I gave it a coat of amber lacquer.(only kind I had) I was going to leave it alone, but thought the lacquer would protect it.
It turned into a cute little rocker. Did I tell you it cost me a dollar? You heard me right, $1.00. The before and after really don't show how crusty the before was.
Not sure what I am going to do with it yet, maybe sell it. For now, my daughter's talking doll likes sitting on it.
