  • Walk through your home and check where falls might occur - loose rugs, toys on the floor, items on the stairs can all be dangerous. 
  • Falls are the leading cause of accidents in the home.
  • One out of five falls causes a serious injury such as broken bones or a head injury.(source)
  • Each year, 2.5 million older people are treated in emergency departments for fall injuries.(source)
  • Keep stairs clear, add tape or backing to loose rugs and hide wires/extension cords.
  • Wipe up spills immediately.
  • Arrange or remove furniture so there is plenty of room for walking. 
  • Taking the time to eliminate these hazards will go a long way to make your home and family safe especially if you have small children or elderly adults.
