Happiness Is Homemade

Welcome to Happiness is Homemade Link Party!

Hello my blogging friends. May is here and you know what that means - warmer weather, flowers and gardens. I have been working on my garden and it is doing quite well. I have wanted to get some flowers for some of my pots but Lowe's has been so crowded that that I have stayed away.

Here in Florida, some restrictions are changing on Monday. Restaurants are allowed to open for seating outdoors - tables have to be 6 feet apart and inside only 25% capacity. It will be awhile before we go and sit down but we can still do takeout.

What changes are taking place where you are?

I'm the new host for the Month of May. I started blogging after I closed the B&B that I operated for 14 years. It's my new creative outlet (which thankfully doesn't require middle of the night calls). I'm a mom of one teenage boy, two cats and a dog. My husband is also a blogger in the gardening space.

Enough about me, let's move on to this weeks' features. There's no theme to these, just things I enjoyed reading about.

DIY Napkin Rings

The first is a DIY project from Calypso In the Country. Shelley shared three DIY napkin rings. I just love the floral ones made from paper flowers. They will be so pretty for Mother's Day.

This is my favorite of the three ideas, but all three are worth taking another look.

Seven Things Every Porch Needs

The second feature is from Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate. She is shared the seven things that every porch needs. I don't know about you, but I've been spending more time than usual on the porch. It's almost like leaving home.

I like the outdoor rug, it adds so much color to the front porch.

DIY coastal Terra Cotta Pots

My third feature is from Ashley at Cherished Bliss. It's also an outdoor decor idea. It's finally warm and nice to go outside. Ashley has a great DIY for coastal terra cotta pots. They look so cute with the succulents.

EasY DIY Jar Makeover

Chas is our next feature from Chas' Crazy Creations. She had some great crafts using decals that would also be really nice outside. There are five to choose from so be sure to check them out. This is my favorite because I think would be so cute on the patio.

Everybody has a spare jar around, wouldn't this be a fun centerpiece.

Easy Homemade Waffle Recipe

The last feature this week looked so delicious that I had to add it. These would be a great Mother's Day treat for someone to make me! These waffles are from Lois at Walking On Sunshine Recipes.

  2. So interesting to here the difference of restrictions between the states! Here in IL we are opening up a few more retail stores (I think I saw cars in the Michaels parking lot yesterday--hooray!) as well as public parks and forest preserves. No restaurants yet. Thanks for hosting and have a great week!

    1. Pamela,
Yes it is interesting as each governor of each state can make their own decisions about what to open up. We had one retail store open and JoAnn Fabric has never closed. I see lines in front of it all the time.
All we can do now is wait and see, but I am in no hurry to venture out too much.
      Hugs,
      Bev

  3. Bev,
We had a beautiful day here yesterday!! I did more work out the back yard and hope to get the rug out on the front porch either today or tomorrow...High's close to 70 but all next week, only in the high 50's maybe 60...
Thanks so much for continuing to host during this health crisis, spreading beauty, laughter and information!! Stay Safe, Healthy and Happy!!
    Hugs,

    1. Debbie,
Wow, that is some warm weather. My Mom said it has been cold with snow flurries the last couple of days. Hope it doesn't head your way from Pittsburgh.
      Enjoy your time outside.
      Hugs,
      Bev

  4. Bev, glad you are doing well! I haven't been creating many new posts of late as most of my "free" time is spent making masks. Here in Pittsburgh, even though our numbers are low for the virus, our governor is still keeping us in level red for at least two more weeks. Going stir crazy. Doesn't help that the weather has been so wet and gray. Mosty I worry about my sons living in Manhattan and center city Philly. But, we've been blessed compared to many.

    1. Debbee,
I can imagine that I would be so worried if my sons lived in either place. Scary time. I have done some projects but no time to post them. We are lucky to be able to be outdoors everyday. The weather here has been great. They finally finished the pool so it will be nice to not have contractors here all the time and we can start to enjoy it.
      Take care,
      Bev
