Spring Burlap Wreath

Spring Burlap Wreath

There are so many beautiful wreaths. I was thinking about what kind of wreath I wanted for my front door. As I looked at my supplies, I found some flowers I could use, but no base for the wreath.

Then I found a frame, I knew it would make a great base for my wreath.

The frame had a nice thickness to it but was larger than I wanted my wreath to be.

So I cut it down.(I know that seems like a waste, but it would be recycled) I cut this frame into pieces so that it would make a 14 by 14 inch frame and glued it back together. You could pick any frame that would work for you.

I decided to wrap the frame in burlap. The burlap was left over from the Home Sweet Home sign I made earlier. This burlap is heavier than the burlap you buy in the store but since the frame was chunky, it worked. If you don't have burlap, you could also wrap the frame with jute or ribbon.

I cut pieces of the burlap for each side and then folded the corners over so that I could miter them.  At first I hot glued the burlap in place, then I decided to staple the burlap on the back. That went faster.

Once all of the frame was covered in burlap, I needed to add some flowers. I had some pussy willow and some other flowers that I had dried. Now all I needed was a bow.

I found some yellow ribbon and my wreath was done. I like the square frame - something a little different.

My door is all ready for spring. I might tuck in some Easter items later.
