Happiness Is Homemade
Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!
Can you believe that this is the last Sunday on April. In a few days it will be May. Warmer weather and lots of lovely flowers. I was watching the Cherry Blossom Festival on TV. I must admit that the festivities were pale in comparison to the gorgeous cherry blossoms. Summer always seems to be just around the corner when I see the cherry blossoms. Aren't they just beautiful?

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!
Happy Easter to everyone. Hope you have a lovely Sunday and that you are able to enjoy some time with family and friends. I remember when the kids were little I would hide eggs and their Easter baskets and then make them follow a scavenger hunt for their baskets. Each clue would lead to another place until they found them. Once I hid them up a tree. I think I drove them crazy. I thought it was fun! lol! Have you ever done something like that.Sunday, April 14, 2019

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!
What a day it has been. I told you that we are getting our house ready to sell. It has been rather stressful but it is coming along. Today I was putting down mulch (50 bags, so far) and my husband yells for my. Here when he pulled out the washing machine to clean behind it, something happened so when I put in a load of rags, the water went all over the floor and into the garage. What a mess! Needless to say, cleaning that up was not on our list of projects for the day. We got it cleaned up and by then I was more exhausted than I thought possible. I was even too tired to eat. At least the garage floor is clean! Now a word from our monthly hostess:
March is National Crafting Month in the US, so I have some crafty features from last week's party including a crafty home decor idea and recipe idea. Plus, I had to include the post about the California Super Bloom since I live a few miles south of one of the most popular viewing sites. It's a nightmare, don't come! Seriously, the poor town has become overrun with traffic and trash and people are trampling the flowers and parking on the freeway letting their kids play. But the hills are breathtaking! ~Audrey from That Recipe

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!
Top of the mornin to you! Hope you have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day. Wear the green if your Irish or maybe make something green for breakfast. lunch, dinner or dessert. If green is not on your agenda, then think spring and a note from our hostess for this month:Click your heels together three times and repeat after me: Spring is almost here, Spring is almost here, Spring is almost here. I know it is hard to believe if you were stuck at home this week in the latest blizzard, but the calendar says it is almost Spring. And that rodent in Pennsylvania said Spring was coming early this year. Well I can't promise when Spring will arrive to your neighborhood, but I can offer you some lovely some Spring features this week. Lots of gardening, decorating and crafting tips, plus a delicious strawberry jam recipe to tuck away for when the strawberry farms open in your area.
Let's get crafty with some Spring Flowers from Serenity You.
Why settle for boring plastic pots when you can try some of these creative flower pot ideas from Rain on a Tin Roof.
Botanic Bleu explains the essence of French Country design and living, as well as how she made this lovely spring vignette.
And when you want to preserve all of that fresh strawberry goodness for later in the year, here is a low sugar freezer jam from Mama of Many Blessings.

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!
Are you ready for St. Patrick's Day? If not we have some great recipes and projects that will get you in the mood. Audrey has gathered up some wonderful posts for you to enjoy. This week's features on Happiness is Homemade have a bit of an Irish flair in honor of St. Patrick's Day next week. No corned beef and cabbage or green dyed beer, but some fun projects and recipes as well as a great furniture makeover.
May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures. May all life’s passing seasons bring the best to you and yours! -Irish BlessingHave a great week, ~Audrey from That Recipe Colleen from My Life on Kaydeross Creek turned a beat up thrift store find into this beautiful piece of furniture. I absolutely adore this tiny framed shamrock from Celebrating Everyday Life. Great for St. Patrick's Day, but it would also be a fun little treasure for a child going off to college, someone starting a new job, or anyone that needs a little luck. Linda from a Labour of Life shows you how to fold Shamrock napkins for a festive table. She makes it look so easy I think I could even duplicate it. If you want a traditional Irish meal (as opposed to the Irish American Corned Beef) try this Shepherd's Pie from Comfort Spring Station. If you make lamb for Easter, be sure to save this recipe to make with the leftovers. Keep you green beer and Irish whiskey shots, I want one of these Mint Irish Iced Coffee Cocktails from Home Cooking Memories. Maybe more than one.

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade Party!
March is here and that should mean spring is coming, but for some in the north, the weekend means more snow. Yikes! We can stay indoors and check out all of the fabulous posts at the party. Check out the message from Audrey, our host for this month:I'm Audrey from That Recipe and I will be taking over hosting duties this month. March is here and this year that means Mardi Gras, St. Patrick's Day and the start of Spring. Last week we featured some fun Mardi Gras ideas so be sure to check that out if you need more inspiration. This week it's rainbows for St. Patrick's Day that has me inspired, plus a great Irish recipe and an easy but dramatic DIY project.
Corned beef and cabbage is an American tradition for St. Patrick's Day. In Ireland they are more apt to have a hearty Irish Lamb Stew like this one from Kippi at Home.
Anika's DIY Life shows you the easy way to Paint Your Front Door. I love the color she chose, and the difference the simple project can make to your home.
This Pot of Gold Centerpiece from Playdates and Parties has instructions for those with a Cricut and those of us without.
Kristie at Love My Little Cottage made a lovely piano-scape including this Rainbow Pine Cone Tree.
Hop over to Bird's Party to see this bright Rainbow Tablescape with an easy balloon garland centerpiece.
Now let's see what you all have been creating....

Happiness Is Homemade
Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!
Can you believe that this is the last Saturday in February? Time is flying and soon it will be March. Hopefully it will mean warmer weather. I know some are having some strong winds and ice. Hope you are safe and keeping warm. With Mardi Gras fast approaching, Audrey has some info about that holiday. Check out her comments below:
Those of you outside of the Gulf Coast might not be familiar with Mardi Gras. The literal translation is Fat Tuesday, the Day before Ash Wednesday when you eat all of the fatty sweet foods in your home before Lent begins. But, in New Orleans and the surrounding areas the celebration has become a weeks long secular party filled with parades and music and beads that can start as early as January 6th.
I hope the features this week inspire you to celebrate the spirit of Mardi Gras at home with recipes, crafts and tablescapes. And since we are learning about the world, I added one wordly DIY project.
Stop by the featured posts and say hi from the Happiness is Homemade Krewe (that's how they spell crew in NOLA ;) )

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade!
I am so excited that you have stopped by our party. I hope your weekend has been going well. Mine is OK. Car issues are never a joy. We drove up to our other house on Thursday and the trip was rather uneventful until we were about an hour out. We could tell the car was not doing well. At first we thought we had gotten some bad gas but the closer we came, other issues started to happen. Long story short, we did arrive safely but now need our transmission fixed. That, we were not expecting and we have to leave it for a week. We keep a second car here that is old, so we are hoping it makes it home.
Now a few words from your HIH host for February:

I hope that you are experiencing some warmer weather. Ours has been so much warmer although we had some rain. I don't mind. my garden could use it. My friend and I went to pick strawberries this morning. We tried not to eat too many, they were so good. I didn't make anything exciting to put them on, I thought we would just have some with whipped cream. We have a new host for the next two months and you can get to know Audrey by checking out what she has to say below.
Hi there, It's Audrey from Munofore, not to be confused with Audrey from That Recipe. She is a crazy lady that talks to herself. Okay, okay! I am the crazy lady... with two blogs: That Recipe (food) and Munofore (MUsings NOt FOod RElated: mostly crafts, gardening, and healthy aging posts these days). Add in a husband and 10 year old son, is it any reason I talk to myself? I have the privilege of picking our features for the next two months and I am so excited! I will be trying to pick some new bloggers as well as those that have been partying with us for years and to select a nice mix of food, crafts, decor and more for you every week. Let's get this party started already! Who is surprised I have a Valentine's Day theme going with our features this week? Hopefully no one. There were so many wonderful ideas last week you may want to stop by and see all of them.

With 4 Christmas trees, 10 holiday vignettes, 1 creche, 1 Dickens Village and assorted Christmas decor, our house really shines during the holidays. On Friday night, we had a few couples over for cocktails before going out to share a holiday dinner. Sweet Shark and I love sharing our home with friends during the holidays and this is an easy way to entertain. It's part of our way of sharing the Christmas spirit.
I love being hostess is December. In the second week of December, I have chosen 4 awesome holiday decorations and one yummy sounding beverage for this week's Happiness is Homemade Link Party 250 Holiday Edition ~ all chosen to enhance your seasonal enjoyment.

Speaking of decorating packages, I think personalized gift wrapping is not just cute, but it adds an extras dose of hugs and kisses to any package. Michelle at The Craft Shoppe shared the most adorable collection of gift wrapping ideas. I know the presents under her tree will be especially appreciated.
You know I love DIY projects and this darling sled from Tiffany at TeeDiddlyDee would add great whimsy to any Christmas decor. She has a great video and directions so anyone could make this project.
Who doesn't love the dollar section at Target? It's always my first (and sometimes last stop) when I shop there. Stephanie at Abbots at Home made a darling DIY centerpiece from Target dollar section ingredients. It's magical and whimsical and so easy.
I love hot chocolate by the fireplace so I couldn't' resist this Frozen Hot Cocoa drink from Brandy at Gluesticks. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but it looks and sounds delicious.
Please drop by our featured bloggers and say hi and tell them how you found their post.
