In most of North India, as well as the hilly and terai regions of Nepal, Hartalika Teej is observed (Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan). Women typically celebrate the monsoon during the Hindu zcalendar months of Shravan and Bhadrapada by participating in teej celebrations.
During Teej, women offer prayers to Parvati and Shiva.
