Updated Small Crate

Updated Small Crate

This was a simple project that didn't take long to complete. My friend gave me the small crate and said, "do something with it". It sat in the garage for a few weeks before I decided what to do with it. Then it became this:

This crate was a small one. I am not sure where she got it. The crate has the original stain on it. I just cleaned it up.

Here it is from the front:

And here is a side view:

The crate may have sat there for several more weeks, if I hadn't been looking for something else when I came across this ceramic flower tile. At one time it was attached to the outside of a basket. I had it sitting outside with a plant in it and the basket began to fall apart.

For some reason, I decided to take the ceramic tile off and keep it. I thought this would look nice on the crate. I found some brass screws and added the flower tile to the side of the box.

I didn't like seeing the brass screws, so I found some green paint that matched and painted them.

I placed a Mexican Lavender plant in the crate and it was done. I will plant the lavender outside when it warms up a little.

It's so nice when you can complete a project so quickly. Maybe in the future, I might paint it and change it up, but for now, I like the rustic look of it.

  1. Here in northern Illinois...it's this time of year when you find yourself craving some green. Great project for the middle of winter. My rosemary plants all died this Fall...so I'm thinking of starting one, just like this! Sandi from OTMoon

    1. Sandi,
I know my Mom is saying the same thin in Pennsylvania. You just want to see some green.
I lost one of my lavender last fall too so I am getting new ones ready for this year.
      Good luck with yours.
      Hugs,
      Bev
