Trip to the Farm

Trip to the Farm

We have been working so hard on the new house and with all of the Covid19 issues, we decided to go to the farm for a few days. The trip is around 4 hours so not too bad.

The farm is in Perry, Georgia. It was purchased for the pecan trees on it. The cabin is a nice size with a bedroom and bath downstairs, bedroom and bath up stairs, great room and dining and kitchen area.

My brother-in-law manages this farm for our friend. I'll show you around the farm. You can see the large lake to the left and right of the cabin in the back.

You can see row after row of pecan trees. There are 125 acres total but only 70 acres have pecans.

You can see that the pecan trees go almost to the house which is in the distance.

It is so quiet here, it is amazing. I could live here so easily. All I hear are the birds and sometimes when the geese or ducks are landing on the pond.

I have spent much of my time sitting on the back porch that overlooks the lake.

The lake is too large for one picture, so this is the right side off the deck. The lake is almost 8 acres.

I took lots of walks with the dogs. On our third trip yesterday, Caleigh (Louie's mommy) decided she was not going all the way to the end of the road again. She just turned around and went back to the cabin. Roddy and Louie however, loved it.  I think they like not having to have collars and leashes.

Now for the inside of the cabin. There was no staging for these photos. My BIL stays here and this is definitely a guy's place. He comes up for a few days each week and when pecan season starts, will spend weeks on end here until the harvest is over.

Here is the great room. You can tell he is a hunter. Nothing wrong with it, but it is not for me. He did give me some antlers to take home.

This is the kitchen and dining room. You might be able to see peaches on the counter back on the left.

These stairs go to the second floor bedroom and bath. This is where we stay. Since we don't have stairs in our house, the dogs are afraid of these. We have to carry them up and down each morning and night.

He does have this bench/coffee table that I have been trying to get away from him. He said I could have it as soon as he finds a replacement. So far that has been three years. Maybe one day.

It's the outside that I love here. When we came up on Thursday, it was 98 at our house. It has been around 84 since we have been here. I am loving it. We will be here for a few more days.

  1. Lovely! Perry is about 1 1/2 hours from us. I've been to the fair grounds for a couple of events. So wonderful that y'all could get away. Enjoy!

  4. This place is beautiful. I'm a little jealous. I would say that it sounds so nice and cool, but right now I will have to say that it sounds so nice and warm. As I am writing the comment, it is 47 degrees outside. That is very unusual and fortunately will only last a couple of days, but it is my son's birthday tomorrow and we were going to go to a park just for something different, but we may end up staying home. Anyway, I'm glad that you enjoyed your little trip to the farm.

    1. Amy,
I am so sorry to hear that it is that cold. Wow, I would like it to be a little cooler, but not 47. I hope it warms up for your son'd birthday, but I am sure you will make it special no matter what.
      Hugs,
